Work Package 4:
SAMA with Parents
Co-produce and feasibility test a parent emotional well-being awareness intervention.
A nurturing family environment and parental support are critical to adolescent emotional well-being.
Yet many parents around the world can find it hard to know how to support their young person when they face new emotional changes and challenges.
Project SAMA will use the school platform to engage parents, and to improve their mental health literacy as a pathway to improved support to young people.
Parent mental health literacy programs are sparse. We will build on available knowledge via co-production with parents and young people to develop a low-intensity, school-hosted, parent mental health literacy intervention. In the feasibility study, we will focus on levels of parental engagement and requests for support.
